Zamfara: Matawalle’s Former Adviser Defeats Dauda in Resounding Bye-Election Victory

The people of Zamfara State have once again demonstrated their resolve with the just concluded bye-election in Kauran Namoda Constituency, where the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the towering influence of Bello Mohammed Matawalle, secured a decisive and humiliating victory over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Governor Dauda Lawal. 

Leading the charge was Matawalle’s former special Adviser hon kamilu sa'idu, who overwhelmingly defeated the governor’s PDP candidate. Despite Lawal’s boastful claims that he would crush APC before noon, the final results told a different story: APC polled over 70001 votes, leaving PDP trailing helplessly with just 5341 votes.

In a desperate bid to salvage defeat, Dauda Lawal brazenly ignored the Federal Government’s warning against the use of state-backed vigilantes during elections. He flooded polling units with Zamfara Vigilante operatives to intimidate voters and manipulate the process. Yet, even in the face of these crude tactics and abuse of power, the people stood firm, delivering a thunderous victory to APC and sending a clear message that the era of coercion and manipulation is gone for good.

This triumph is far more than an electoral win for APC—it is a total rejection of Dauda Lawal's failed administration. Since forcing his way into office in 2023, Zamfara has sunk into insecurity, fear, poverty and hopelessness. Banditry has intensified, communities live under constant siege, and citizens have been abandoned by a government that thrives on deceit, incompetence, and insensitivity.

In stark contrast, the people remember fondly the golden years of Bello Matawalle’s stewardship. During his leadership, Zamfara enjoyed almost two uninterrupted years without a single abduction. Families slept peacefully, businesses thrived, and dignity was restored to the state. Matawalle governed with a people-first approach, ensuring peace and stability that citizens now yearn for once again.

The victory in Kauran Namoda is therefore much bigger than a bye-election—it is a referendum against Dauda Lawal Dare’s fraudulent government and a strong call for Matawalle’s return to restore order, peace, and purposeful leadership.

The people of Zamfara have spoken loud and clear: no amount of intimidation, no misuse of vigilantes, and no propaganda can suppress their will. They have tasted the peace and progress of Matawalle’s era, and they will never settle for less.
