A tragic incident occurred in Moriki township, Zamfara State, on Sunday evening, resulting in the death of a resident at the hands of local hunters. The victim, Yahaya Ibrahim, was shot in the stomach after shining a torchlight on the hunters during their routine patrol around 8:30 p.m.
According to sources, the hunters reacted aggressively to the sudden light, leading to the fatal shooting. Ibrahim was rushed to General Hospital, Moriki, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The police have visited the scene, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway. This incident highlights the ongoing security concerns in Zamfara State, where local hunters and vigilantes often work alongside security forces to combat banditry and terrorism.
