FCT Police Boss Debunks Rumor of Removing Pockets from Uniforms

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has dismissed as entirely baseless and misleading a viral video claiming that police officers were ordered to remove pockets from their uniforms to curb extortion.

In a statement, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, clarified that no such directive has been issued by the Inspector General of Police. She described the viral claim as false and urged the public to disregard it.

The FCT Police Command advised the public to verify information from official police channels before sharing and to avoid spreading misinformation that could mislead the public or distract security agencies. The Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and called for responsible use of social media.
