The donation is part of UNICEF's efforts to complement the government's healthcare services delivery. According to Mr. Isah Ibrahim of UNICEF's Sokoto Field Office, the donation was made due to a gross shortage of oxygen concentrators in the hospital's Special Care Newborn Unit.
Ibrahim commended the state government for constructing a new Special Newborn Care Unit equipped with modern healthcare facilities. He also appealed to the hospital management to ensure efficient utilization of the oxygen concentrators.
The medical director of the hospital, Dr. Aminu Nahuche, applauded UNICEF's efforts, describing the donation as timely. He promised to ensure judicious utilization of the oxygen concentrators.
The donation is expected to improve the lives of newborn babies in Zamfara State. UNICEF's efforts aim to support the government in providing quality healthcare services to its citizens.
