Defection: Shettima, APC Leaders to Receive Gov Yusuf on Monday

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf is set to officially join the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday. Currently the only governor from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Yusuf has traveled to Abuja to finalize arrangements for his defection.

The governor's decision to join the ruling party has faced strong opposition from the state party leadership and NNPP's national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, sparking internal clashes within the NNPP between pro-governor factions and Kwankwasiyya loyalists.

The governor's move seems like a power play, aiming to break free from Kwankwaso's grip and solidify his own control. Reports indicate that Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Yitwalda Nentawe will receive the governor in Abuja on Monday.

Meanwhile, key APC figures in Kano have been called back from their travels—party leader Abdullahi Ganduje from Dubai and state chairman Abdullahi Abbas from his lesser hajj—to facilitate Yusuf’s registration as an APC member at Diso Ward in Gwale Local Government Area later this week.
