Kebbi Govt Bans All Traditional Titles Without Clearance

The Kebbi Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has instructed Emirate Councils, District Heads, and Village Heads to suspend granting traditional titles without official approval.

The directive, issued in a circular by Deputy Director of Administration Abubakar Mansur-Tuga, emphasizes adherence to guidelines following reports of unauthorized conferments.

Authorities stressed that traditional titles must reflect the dignity and heritage of the institutions involved. As part of reforms, no title is to be awarded without ministry clearance.

Additionally, titles granted improperly in the last two months must be revoked, with beneficiaries notified promptly.

The move aims to uphold the sanctity of traditional honors and ensure future awards follow legal and procedural standards.
