Senator Adamu Still in APC, Party Dismisses Defection Claims

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has refuted rumors suggesting that Senator Abdullahi Adamu, a former National Chairman of the party, defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The party dismissed these claims as unfounded propaganda designed to mislead the public and disrupt APC’s unity.

In a statement issued by Hassan Abubakar, the State Organising Secretary and Coordinator of the APC’s e-membership registration exercise, the party clarified that Senator Adamu remains a dedicated and card-carrying member of the APC with no intentions of joining another political party. Abubakar emphasized that the former governor never defected, considered defection, or affiliated with any other party.

The statement addressed a viral photograph falsely presented as evidence of Adamu’s defection, explaining that the image was taken during the APC’s ongoing nationwide e-membership registration drive. It clearly depicted Adamu revalidating his membership as part of the party’s constitutional reforms.

The APC condemned the misinformation as irresponsible and politically motivated, attributing it to unnamed individuals seeking to distort a legitimate party activity. It reiterated Adamu’s unwavering loyalty and contributions to the APC’s growth, urging members, the media, and the public to ignore the false reports and rely on credible sources.

The party reaffirmed its unity and commitment to progressive governance in Nasarawa State and beyond.
