Zamfara Bandits Kidnap Two Police Officers in Ambush Attack

Armed bandits attacked Farin Ruwa village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, kidnapping two police officers during the assault. The incident took place on the evening of January 4, around 8:00 p.m., along the Farin Ruwa–Wasagu road. Reports indicate that the gunmen, whose identities remain unknown, entered the community through the Dansadau district.

A joint security team, including troops from Operation FANSAN YANMA, police officers, members of the Civilian Protection Group, and local vigilantes, quickly mobilized to protect residents and confront the attackers. However, the bandits ambushed the security forces during the operation.

In the chaos, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and an Inspector, both attached to the Department of Operations (DOPS), were seized by the assailants. Their service rifles were also taken, and their current location remains undisclosed.

Authorities have since deployed an anti-kidnapping unit to the area, intensifying efforts to track down the abducted officers and secure their safe release. Investigations are ongoing as security forces work to restore order and prevent further attacks in the region.
