Odusote’s appointment will take effect on January 10, 2026, marking the beginning of her four-year term. She will succeed Isa Chiroma, whose tenure concludes on January 9, 2026, after eight years in office.
As the new Director-General, Odusote will oversee the academic leadership, administrative operations, and strategic vision of the Nigerian Law School across all its campuses. Additionally, she will act as the key liaison between the institution, the Council of Legal Education, the Body of Benchers, and the Nigerian Bar Association.
Currently serving as the deputy director-general and head of the Lagos campus, Odusote will break new ground as the first woman to lead the institution since its establishment in 1962.
Odusote holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988. She further earned a master’s degree in company and commercial law from OAU and a doctorate in law from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom, where her research focused on public law and the administration of justice.
Joining the Nigerian Law School as a lecturer in 2001, Odusote has steadily climbed the ranks, holding key positions such as head of the academic department, director of academics, and campus head. Her extensive experience and leadership make her a fitting choice for this landmark appointment.
