Sokoto State – Eleven individuals who were abducted by bandits from Kaibaba village in the Turba ward of Isa Local Government Area have been successfully rescued. The operation, carried out by security personnel, took place in a forest within the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
In a statement released by Garba Mohammed, Director of Press Affairs at the Deputy Governor's office in Sokoto State, it was confirmed that the victims were safely brought back.
Upon receiving the victims at the Government House in Sokoto, State Deputy Governor Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir commended the security operatives for their commendable efforts in recovering the hostages.
Alhaji Idris Gobir reiterated the state government’s unwavering commitment to combating insecurity, emphasizing that the Ahmed Aliyu administration considers security issues as a top priority. He stated that the governor consistently prioritizes security matters and responds promptly to any issues related to safety presented to him.
To support the rescued victims, Alhaji Idris Gobir announced a donation of 100,000 naira, as well as a bag of millet and maize for each of the eleven individuals.
In response, the Chairman of Isa Local Government, Alhaji Sherifu Abubukar Kamarawa, expressed gratitude to the state government for its timely assistance. He noted that this gesture reflects the government's concern for the security and welfare of its citizens.
The rescued victims include seven women, three infants, and a teenage male.
