TUC Gives Dangote Group Final Warning Over Anti-Union Activities

The Trade Union Congress (TUC) of Nigeria has issued a stern warning to the Dangote Group, urging them to address the unresolved labour issues raised by its affiliate unions.

The TUC received reports from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), the Chemical and Non-Metallic Products Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (CANMPSSAN), and the Textile, Garment and Tailoring Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (TGTSSAN) regarding the alleged anti-union practices and harassment of workers within the Dangote Group.

The TUC demands that the Dangote Group respect the rights of workers to unionize and address the complaints of PENGASSAN and NUPENG. Failure to comply will result in a nationwide shutdown by organized labour, with the TUC prepared to work with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to defend workers' rights.

In a similar vein, PENGASSAN has expressed solidarity with NUPENG, condemning the Dangote Group's alleged resistance to unionization and harassment of workers. The union warned that if the situation persists, they will join in shutting down the refinery operations.

The TUC's warning is seen as a final ultimatum, with the union stating that "an injury to one is an injury to all". The development may lead to a nationwide industrial action if the Dangote Group fails to address the labour issues.
