Health officials in Zamfara State held a crucial meeting to address ongoing shortages in the state’s medicine supply system.
Led by Dr. Nafisa Muhammed Maradun, the Commissioner for Health, and Pharmacist Sani Bello, Executive Secretary of the Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency, the session brought together key stakeholders to find lasting solutions.
Discussions highlighted recent progress while pinpointing areas needing urgent attention. To tackle these challenges, immediate actions were agreed upon, including reviewing supplier qualifications later this month and convening a steering committee for the Sustainable Drugs Supply System next week.
Health facilities were encouraged to work closely with the DMA to speed up improvements.
A weekly monitoring system will also be introduced to track progress and address any emerging issues.
These efforts aim to ensure reliable access to essential medicines, enhance patient care, and strengthen Zamfara’s healthcare system.
