Federal Govt allocates ₦1.5bn for Construction of Kano Dam

The Federal Government has allocated ₦1.5 billion for the construction of an earth dam in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State.

The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Utsev, disclosed this during an inspection tour of Kano State.

Speaking at the proposed project site in Bela, Bichi LGA, the Minister said the dam would create job opportunities and is expected to be completed within 36 months. 

He noted that the project would boost water resources and support agricultural activities in the region.

Professor Utsev explained that the project would have a positive impact on the people of Bichi LGA and surrounding communities by providing water for agriculture and other domestic uses.

 He added that the Federal Government’s investment demonstrates its commitment to improving water resources and promoting economic development in the region.

The Managing Director of the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, Rabiu Bichi, stated that the Authority is responsible for executing such projects.

The Minister also visited Jigawa State, where he carried out similar engagements aimed at improving water availability.
